The Spitfire Experience: Bookings now open for 2018!

Ever wondered what it would be like to sit in the cockpit of a Spitfire and press the starter button to fire up a 27 litre Merlin engine? Well wonder no more!

At our 1940s Weekend, we offer you the chance to enjoy the 'Spitfire Experience'.

The replica MkIX Spitfire is built around a real Spitfire cockpit and Rolls Royce Merlin engine. During your Spitfire Experience, you sit in the cockpit where the controls etc will be explained to you, and then you will press the starter to fire up the Merlin engine. This will be run for approximately two minutes allowing you to enjoy the sound and feel of this mighty engine! (BTW: The 27 litre Merlin engine guzzles fuel at 8 - 10 litres a minute!).

In between the Spitfire Experience engine runs, there is the chance to have your photo taken sitting in the cockpit of the Spitfire for £10.00.

Each day there will be a raffle to win a 'Spitfire Experience' and lots of other prizes too. The draw will take place at 3.30pm and the winner will enjoy their 'Experience' half-an-hour later at 4pm. Tickets @ £1 each will be available from the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group stand (near the Spitfire).

Pre-Booking for the Spitfire Experience is now open! Click below to go to the booking website, then select the date from the calendar.
